Comment on Releases 0.9.310 - 0.9.313: Change Log

  1. [AO3-6190] – We started using the Rails time zone for work and chapter date calculations. They were previously using the servers’ time zone, which resulted in some fun date-related bugs when posting between the hours of midnight and 04:00 UTC.

Wait, does this mean that the posting date glitch is fixed? That would be excellent news!

Is it also safe to save a work as a draft before posting now, too, without it being logged as having had its date changed (and thus being pushed further down the "recently updated" page)?

    1. I second this question. I don't live in UTC-area timezone, so if I am posting a fic past midnight my time, I must roll back the date by a day (eg. let's say I'm posting at 1AM my time, which means March 2nd, Ao3 will say the date is in the future, so I have to set the date to March 1st). Does this mean it's fixed now? I've seen a Reddit thread where people mentioned this glitch so I just wonder if users from an advanced timezone (compared to the US I assume) experiences the same thing.

We think so. If you're still seeing it, or that it's throwing "You can't post in the future", please submit a Support ticket and let us know what time zone your computer is set to.

That's working as intended - works, unless manually changed, use the first date they hit the database.

      Best,
      CJ

      2. Sorry, i forgot to add - will the timezone work according to the user's computer's clock, or preferred timezone on the profile?

        1. It should be based off the device clock.
